Third Grade Families,
I wanted to connect with you all tonight after receiving the unexpected news about Mr.Elliott. My heart is heavy and I know that this feeling is shared by so many tonight. David hired me and welcomed me to the QAE community. His generosity, caring nature, and absolute dedication to kids is what is on my mind tonight.
This situation is particularly challenging as we naturally want to ask many questions and feel that along with such big news, we should receive bold, clear answers. Our staff received the exact message that you all received today. I don't have any new information to share. The way that I can best show respect and support for Mr. Elliott is to take in this news and to respect his privacy. I encourage us all to support him in this way.
I will share the news with our class tomorrow. I'll talk about what taking a leave means, and that it's difficult- but ok- to not have the answers sometimes. We will focus our conversation on thinking about Mr. Elliot's amazing spirit, heart, and contributions. We will share some stories and think about how we can honor his place in our school and our hearts.
Our staff is also going to take time to process this monumental news. After we have some time, we too will make a plan to honor David and the enduring foundation he has created at QAE. There is so much uncertainty surrounding this change, but of one thing I am certain: our community of educators and families will pull together to support each other. Our commitment stands strong and although this will be tough, I have not a doubt that our learning and community will remain strong.
I'll be there bright and early to welcome kids and to say hello if you'd like to stop by.
Megan
